1. System Safety Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced System Safety Engineer to join our team in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system safety engineering and design, with a deep understanding of industry standards and methodologies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct system safety assessments in accordance with ARP4754(A) standards.
- Perform fault tree and numerical probability analysis to assess system safety and derive probability requirements.
- Conduct failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks.
- Perform common cause analyses, including common mode analysis, to identify potential system vulnerabilities.
- Develop and maintain system safety documentation, including hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety plans.
- Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that safety requirements are met throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of experience as a system safety engineer or design engineer at the system level
- Strong knowledge of ARP4754(A) standards and their application to system safety assessments
- Experience with fault tree analysis, numerical probability analysis, and failure modes and effects analysis
- Familiarity with common cause analysis methods, especially common mode analysis
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering or a related field
- Experience with safety certification processes for aerospace or similar industries
- Familiarity with safety analysis tools and software
- Experience with safety management systems (SMS)
